Max Landis reveals he was fired from the Power Rangers reboot

October 10, 2016 by admin

The first trailer for the Power Rangers reboot was shown over the weekend at New York Comic Con [watch it here], with many people comparing it to the 2012 found-footage superhero movie Chronicle, written by Max Landis. Landis has been very open about being on the project at one point [you can read some of his script here], and the writer has revealed on Twitter that he was fired after submitting his script along with four or five other writers.

It’s not uncommon for a big budget movie to cycle through various writers, but it’s usually a sign that the studio didn’t know what they wanted. Could this be the case with Power Rangers?

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

Power Rangers is set for release on March 24th 2017 and will star Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, Bill Hader as Alpha 5 and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa.
