Ben Whishaw is Queen’s choice for the Freddie Mercury biopic

October 19, 2013 by admin

With Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, The Dictator) dropping out of the long-planned Freddie Mercury biopic, all signs signaled towards another stint in development hell.

However, Skyfall and Cloud Atlas star Ben Whishaw has been unveiled as the surviving members of the band’s first choice to play Mercury, with drummer Roger Taylor revealing on the BBC One Show the actor is in line for the lead role as the legendary frontman.

Whishaw certainly has the charisma and his performances on stage have impressed critics and fans alike. As yet there’s no word on when filming begins, or if even if this project will finally come to fruition.
