Hugh Jackman cast in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

December 1, 2016 by Ricky Church

Hugh Jackman is already lining up projects after Logan and one of them is a supporting role in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the film is an adaptation of the young adult novel of the same name by Sherman Alexie about a young boy who dreams of becoming a cartoonist and leaves his Native American reserve to attend an all-white school.

The story is a semi-autobiographical one based on Alexie’s own experiences; the reserve depicted in the story is the very same one he grew up on. Alexie is also writing the screenplay for the film with Temple Hill’s Wyck Godfrey and Isaac Klausner and Fox’s Lauren Shuler Donner and Jack Leslie producing. A director or production start date are yet to be determined.

Jackman is currently filming the musical The Greatest Showman with Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson before presumably moving onto Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. He will next be seen in Logan, which is released on March 3rd and will feature his final appearance as Wolverine.
