Jeffrey Wright confirms 2018 return for Westworld

December 6, 2016 by James Garcia

Those hoping to see what happens next on HBO’s hit series Westworld will have to wait a bit longer than expected, as the next train to Sweetwater won’t be arriving until 2018, series star Jeffrey Wright has confirmed via Twitter:

See y'all in #Westworld 2018, baby.

— Jeffrey Wright 🥜 (@jfreewright) December 5, 2016

When Westworld was renewed for a second season about three weeks ago, HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys warned that it wouldn’t return until “sometime in 2018” so that series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy could “map it out and write the scripts.” Considering the long, grueling, and delayed production that plagued the first season, it makes sense that HBO, Nolan, and Joy would rather take their time to ensure a sophomore outing gets made more smoothly. Plus, some poor tech working for Delos is going to have to work overtime to repair all of the Hosts that were laid to waste in last night’s brutal season finale.

We’ll have more news on Westworld‘s return as it becomes available. In the meantime, sound off in the comments below if you’re counting down the days until 2018!
