Disney, Fox, Paramount and Universal secure Super Bowl ad spots, Warner Bros. sits out

January 28, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Super Bowl LI takes place next Sunday, February 5th, which means movie fans can expect a sneak peek at some of this year’s biggest releases as the Hollywood studios scramble for ad space during the Big Game.

Deadline is reporting that Disney, Fox, Paramount and Universal have all snapped up spots during the Super Bowl – at an average price of $5 million per 30 seconds – while Sony is sticking to the pre-game show.

According to the site, Disney is likely to showcase Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, with Fox opting for A Cure For Wellness and either Logan or Alien: Covenant. Paramount’s spot could go to either Baywatch or Transformers: The Last Knight.

As with last year, Warner Bros. has opted against a spot, meaning any fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Justice League are likely to be disappointed. However, there may be something DC-related via a promotional partner, much like last year’s Turkish Airlines spot for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
