Jared Leto to direct James Ellroy-scripted thriller 77

February 16, 2017 by Samuel Brace

News has arrived that the actor/singer Jared Leto is to add another skill to his resume as Paramount Pictures has hired him to direct his first feature film.

The Suicide Squad actor has had an eye for creating his own visual projects for a long time; his music videos for 30 Seconds to Mars are often extravagant and particularly visual. So the news doesn’t exactly come as much surprise.

Leto has also helmed the documentary Artifact amongst his various other projects beyond that of mercurial acting choices and being a rock a star.

The Academy Award winner will be directing an original screenplay from James Ellroy, titled 77, which will be set in 1974 LA and tell the tale of two police officers, a kidnapping, and a brutal murder investigation.

It promises to be a dark tale, full of violence and conspiracy.

Let is also producing the movie, and you can next him in front of the camera in Blade Runner 2049.
