First look at Han Solo movie, new images from Pacific Rim 2 and Wonder Woman, Hellboy 3 cancelled and more – Daily News Roundup

February 22, 2017 by admin

SMUGGLER’S PHOTO

With the film now in production, the official Star Wars Twitter account released an image from the set of the Han Solo spin-off movie, featuring directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller alongside stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. “Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” said Lord and Miller. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.” See the photo here.

WONDER WOMAN STUFF

Some new images from the upcoming Wonder Woman movie landed online yesterday via Empire [see those here] and Joss Whedon has been talking about his cancelled adaptation. “I worked really hard on that movie and it meant a lot [to me], but I don’t know if what I was trying to do would fit in with what [the studio’s] vision is,” he said. “I had to take on the film that, well, nobody liked… We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that’s never gonna work.” Read more about that story here.

SHARE THE UPRISING

If we know one thing for sure, it’s that John Boyega is going to be sharing a lot from the set of Pacific Rim: Uprising. The star (and producer) has already been pretty candid with set photos and information, and he shared a brand new image yesterday. See the photo here.

NEW ALIEN TRAILER ON THE WAY

20th Century Fox has released a new image from Alien: Covenant which introduces the crew of the Covenant, as well as announcing that we’ll get a new sneak peek of Ridley Scott’s hotly-anticipated sci-fi horror tonight during Legion on FX. Take a look at the new image here.

HELL NO

After years of speculation, rumours, updates and disappointments, director Guillermo del Toro announced that Hellboy 3 is officially cancelled. He did a Twitter poll last month to see if fans would want the film (a firm ‘yes’), but discussions have broken down between all parties. “Sorry to report: Spoke [with] all parties,” he tweeted. “Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it.” Read more about that here.

METAL GEAR PG-13

It’s a big topic of conversation among film fans at the moment following the success of Fifty Shades of Grey and Deadpool; can R-rated adaptations be financially successful? 20th Century Fox announced that both Logan and Alien: Covenant would be rated R, as would Adi Shankar’s Castlevania and Shane Black’s Predator – but what about the long-gestating Metal Gear Solid movie? “If you need to blow it out more and really get that bigger budget and go PG-13, I think it could exist in both avenues,” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts said. “There are hyper-violent parts to Metal Gear but I would not necessarily call the hyper-violent part the core element of it versus like the tone and the voice and the philosophies that the characters exhibit. Those characters sort of are these walking philosophies, so I think nailing that part is far more important necessarily than thinking about the rating at this point, because right now we’re just trying to get the best version of it.” Read more about that here.
