Hugh Jackman would continue as Wolverine if he was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

February 24, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Over the past few months, Hugh Jackman has stated on countless occasions that next week’s X-Men solo movie Logan will mark his final outing as the fan favourite mutant Wolverine.

Despite the best efforts of Ryan Reynolds to convince him to postpone his decision, Jackman has ruled out the possibility of a Deadpool/Wolverine movie, but he’s now admitted that the lure of a team-up with The Avengers would prove too much to turn down.

“If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause, that’s for sure,” Jackman told Screen Rant. “Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out [laughter]. You never know. At the moment, honestly, if I really did have them there, I probably wouldn’t have said this is the last. It just feels like this is the right time [to leave the character].”

Sadly, it now looks extremely unlikely that Jackman will ever get to realise his ambition of joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan is being helmed by The Wolverine director James Mangold and will see Hugh Jackman joined in the cast by Patrick Stewart as Professor X, along with new additions Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elise Neal. It is set for release on March 1st in the UK and March 3rd in North America.
