Kurt Russell has confirmed that there will be no Tango & Cash reunion when he and Sylvester Stallone appear in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.
The two legendary actors starred together in 1989’s Tango & Cash, but Russell, who will be playing Ego the Living Planet in the Marvel movie, has said that even though both actors are in the film, they won’t be sharing any screen time.
Speaking to Total Film, the actor said the following in a response to the question of if the two would be reunited:
“Well… no, there’s nothing there. But what was fun was, when I learned that Sly was going to play a part, it was fun to just be able to feel that we were in the same movie. I saw Sly two or three times during the making of the movie and after. It was great to be able to, once again, hang with Sly. He’s a really huge person. His demeanor, everything about him. He always puts a smile on my face, and we share lots of laughs. I find him to be very smart and very funny – and alive… He’s a great hang. This was just fun, being in the same sandbox. It was nice to have that connection again.”

It’s certainly a shame that two won’t be in any scenes together, but the film will surely benefit from having such stars as a part of the already impressive cast.

The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) and Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
