Deadwood actor calls movie script “stunning”

May 2, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Recently there has been word that the planned movie revival of popular HBO series Deadwood looks like it could finally be moving forward. Ian McShane stated that the script has been delivered, and now another actor from the revered show has chimed in on its existence.

W. Earl Brown, who played Dan Dority, took to Twitter to champion the script, saying “Much like the Scottish Leviathan and the Himalayan Ape Man, its existence has been long rumored…  can now lay the Legend to rest and swear to its being a real thing…. Times past, I’d have held it in my hands, 126 pages of heft… But these days, it’s sent on invisible wires, a mysterious series of ones and zeros that downloads into ones palm…While it may lack the physical heft of olde, its emotional and philosophical heft is gargantuan…The hour and half it took me to read was f***ing thrilling and f***ing heartbreaking…I was sitting on an airplane, cheering and crying as I took a journey that only David Milch could create — I’ve read the Deadwood film script. It’s stunning… I’ve read, or had Dave read to me, sections of it over the last two years. I now have the completed version.”

So there we have it, more proof the Deadwood script is real, and also apparently something to get excited about. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Deadwood originally ran on HBO for three 12 episode seasons in 2004 – 2006 and was nominated for 28 Emmys during its run, winning 8 of them. The series was created by David Mitch and also starred Justified‘s Timothy Olyphant and House of Cards‘ Molly Parker.
