J.J. Abrams’ supernatural WWII movie Overlord announces full cast

May 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot have announced the full cast for director Julius Avery’s (Son of a Gun) supernatural World War II movie Overlord, which is rumoured to be part of the shared Cloverfield universe, or ‘Cloververse’.

Joining the previously announced Jovan Adepo (Fences) and Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street) are Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Dominic Applewhite (The King’s Speech), Pilou Asbaek (Ghost in the Shell), Iain de Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), John Magaro (The Big Short), Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of Francois Jane) and Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming).

The official synopsis reads:

On the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success.  But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation.

Production on Overlord will get underway this month in the UK, with Avery directing from a script by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant).
