Heroes creator Tim Kring talks Heroes Reborn

July 15, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Back in February, NBC announced that it is reviving Heroes for a new 13-part miniseries entitled Heroes Reborn, which was described as a reboot of the once-popular TV series. However, since then it’s been revealed that Jack Coleman is reprising the role of Noah Bennet (a.k.a. the Man in the Horn-Rimmed Glasses), indicating that Heroes Reborn would be more continuation than reboot. In recent days, both Ali Larter and Zachary Quinto have revealed that they won’t be returning, and now show creator Tim Kring has spoken to Entertainment Weekly about the revival, stating that it will have a strong focus on new characters.

“It takes place in a post-season 4 universe. So it will tie into some of the ideas that were left dangling. The vast, vast majority are brand new characters, brand new ideas. [Bringing back previous characters is] really only to give a sense of continuity and a tether to the original world. If it was all completely brand new, we’d miss certain elements that need to be there to give you that bridge to cross to something new. I approached Coleman because he was a character who had a spine through the series that allowed you to meet new characters. So he’s a character I wanted to make sure had a little part at the beginning of this thing.”

Are you excited about Heroes Reborn, and do you think it can recapture the magic of its first season?
