Rumour: Tom Hardy wanted for Jafar role in Disney’s Aladdin

June 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

You’ll need your pinch of salt at the ready for this one as it comes by way of the British tabloid The Sun, with the paper reporting that Guy Ritchie is looking to reunite with his RocknRolla star Tom Hardy on the live-action Aladdin movie and is hoping to cast him as the villain Jafar.

“Guy is a huge fan of Tom’s work and securing him would be a major coup,” claims the paper’s ‘source’. “There have been conversations and, although nothing is set in stone and things are subject to change, he’s certainly one of Guy’s favoured choices. It just depends on schedules whether he’ll be able to sign up.”

The report follows a previous rumour from The Sun which suggests that Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall is wanted for the role of Jasmine. As yet however there’s been no official casting news, although more reputable sources have said that Will Smith is in talks to portray Genie.
