Guillermo del Toro is a huge fan of Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver

June 29, 2017 by Jordan Jones

With filmmaker Edgar Wright having to step away from Marvel’s Ant-Man due to creative differences, and recently hearing about how painful it was for the director at the time of the movie’s release, one really wants Wright to score a win with his latest offering Baby Driver.

Luckily, the buzz is high for the movie, with the film sitting at a proud 98% Fresh on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes and the critical consensus calling it “stylish” and “exciting” [read our reviews here and here].

Well, alongside critics, you can officially count visionary director Guillermo Del Toro on board, as the director recently gushed over the film on Twitter:

I hope & pray you go and see it on a big screen. I wish you all the joy I felt: I just saw a good pal get the gold. By God- go check it out

— Guillermo del Toro (@RealGDT) June 27, 2017

That is high-praise indeed, and yes, this seems like quite the win after his rough experience with Marvel’s Ant-Man.

A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom. See it Only In Cinemas.

Baby Driver is out now and features a cast that includes Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, and Eiza Gonzalez.
