Steven Moffat teases possible fifth series of Sherlock at Comic-Con

July 21, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Although all signs have pointed towards the fourth series of Sherlock being its last – including comments from both Benedict Cumberbatch and co-creator Mark Gatiss – it seems that Steven Moffat isn’t quite ready to rule out the possibility of a fifth series for the popular BBC show.

Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, Moffat told fans that: “I’m assuming at some point we all show up again and do it when our careers have dipped. We will re-create our glory days back when everyone loved us. Everything’s possibly on the table. We haven’t had the conversation [with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman]. I’m really just right now finishing up on Doctor Who, I’m flat out on that.”

Executive producer Sue Vertue teased that something may be afoot, stating that “There is something we are woking on in London, with Moffat adding: “We do have an answer but we’re not telling what it is.”

Assuming that “something” isn’t a fifth series, perhaps Moffat and company are exploring other avenues, such as an audio drama?

Are you hoping to see another series of Sherlock? Let us know in the comments below…
