SUPER SKRULL

After last week’s reveal that Captain Marvel would take place in the 1990s and feature classic Marvel villains the Skrulls, illustrator Jerad S.Marantz has taken to Instagram to reveal official concept art for them. Interestingly, in his caption Marantz includes the hashtag #SuperSkrulls, making reference to Super-Skrull, a character possessing the combined abilities of the Fantastic Four. Seeing as the rights to Marvel’s First Family are held by Fox, it would seem unlikely that we’ll be seeing Super-Skrull in Captain Marvel, unless the character is reworked in a major way. YOUNG(ER) JEAN

Speaking of Fox, and it looks like they have found an actor to play the young(er) version of Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Pheonix, which us currently in production. IMDB lists that Summer Fontana will take on the role that actresses Famke Janssen, Haley Ramm and Sophie Turner all filled before her. While the movie database hasn’t always been a reliable source for movie news, a post from Fontana’s Twitter places her in Montreal, which is where the film is currently shooting, making her involvement with the project highly likely. NO STROKE?

Back during the Ben Affleck days of The Batman, it was announced via a social media video that Joe Manganiello would be taking on the role of Deathstroke in the solo outing. However since then it’s been revealed that Affleck had stepped down from the director’s chair and Matt Reeves had taken over, throwing out the previous script to start again. So where does that leave Deathstroke? When asked by IMDB if he had any information, Mananiello coyly replied: “I don’t. Well, I do but nothing that I can share. I know everything but I can’t say any of it.” Read more of the interview here.

They are looking to make Wonder Woman the first ever superhero movie nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, as well as securing a Best Director nomination for Patty Jenkins.
