X-Men: Dark Phoenix adds two new cast members, Toad and Ink may also return

August 8, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we may have two new additions to the supporting cast of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, with The Hashtag Show reporting that Kota Eberhardt (The Persian Connection) and Scott Shepherd (The Young Pope) have joined the cast of the mutant superhero sequel.

The site reports that Eberhardt has been cast as Luna, who is described as “intense and exudes a sense of power. Although she is a commanding presence, she is also slightly unhinged.” Shepherd meanwhile is set to play Dr. John Grey, the father of Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey. This follows a recent report that Summer Fontana (The Originals) has been cast as a younger Jean, presumably setting up a flashback sequence.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that Evan Jonigkeit and Gregg Lowe are also in talks to reprise their X-Men: Days of Future Past roles as Toad and Ink, with speculation suggesting they could be part of Magneto’s Acolytes.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for release on November 2nd, 2018. Simon Kinberg is directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) alongside Jessica Chastain as Lilandra and Lamar Johnson in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
