James Cameron talks Aliens 3D and The Abyss and True Lies Blu-rays

August 14, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Later this month, James Cameron’s sci-fi classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day makes its return to cinemas with the release of a special 3D conversion [read our review here], and it looks like Cameron has already set his mind as to which of his films is next in line for a 3D re-release.

“We haven’t proven the business case yet so ask me again in a couple of weeks if T2 Judgement Day in 3D does well,” states Cameron. “I think the next title on my list, in terms of fan enthusiasm, would probably have to be Aliens… Aliens seems to really hold up in people’s minds and that would probably be my next one. But we’ve got to prove the business case here so people have to show up. So show up.”

Cameron also confirmed that he’s still working on the Blu-ray releases of The Abyss and True Lies, having been sidetracked with series of Avatar sequels:

“Working on that. The True Lies Blu-ray and The Abyss Blu-ray have sort of fallen off my ‘to do’ list getting the not one, not two but four Avatar sequels stood up and going. But now that that’s happened, I can actually take care of business. So that’s coming, absolutely.”
