Tyler Hoechlin to play Joe Weider in Bigger

September 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf, Supergirl) has signed on to portray bodybuilding pioneer and Mr. Olympia founder Joe Weider in the biopic Bigger, which is being directed by George Gallo (29th Street, Middle Men).

First announced back in 2013 and written by Brad and Ellen Furman, Andy Weiss and Gallo, Bigger will tell the true story of Jewish immigrants Joe and Ben Weider and their rags to riches story in the world of professional bodybuilding.

“It’s beyond inspirational, and will resonate with not only the massive crowd of those who have found the balance of body and mind as essential for a healthy life but also the throngs of people that were inspired by Joe and his Mr. Olympia events,” states Gallo.

“The brothers’ story sets a powerful example of what hard work and extreme focus can achieve for the youth of today,” adds producer Steve Lee Jones of Bee Holder Productions. “These brothers literally changed the world.”
