Original Resident Evil getting a remake

August 5, 2014 by Tom Powter

Capcom have confirmed that the original Resident Evil, the game that spawned their hugely lucrative zombie series, is being remade for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

While it will be a full game, the Resident Evil remake will be only available through digital download and is due for release in 2015. Based off of the 2002 Gamecube remake, 1080p visuals will be standard on the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions, while the other two will each receive 720p.

The original control scheme will be present, but the remake will also feature a number of control options, as well as the ability to play the game in its former 4:3 ratio, or push it up to 16:9 widescreen. The original game had a stiff, more fixed camera, but the remake seems to be opting for a more dynamic approach.

It’s peculiar that there’s no Wii U version, as the Gamecube remake was later ported to Wii and Capcom have often supported Nintendo with the Resident Evil franchise.
