Bryan Cranston reportedly wanted for “large supporting role” in Uncharted movie

September 26, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in May of this year, it was announced that Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is set to play a young Nathan Drake in the long-gestating big screen adaptation of the Uncharted video game series, and now it is being reported that Bryan Cranston is wanted for a role.

According to That Hashtag Show, Sony and director Shawn Levy are eyeing Cranston for “a large supporting role”, which the site speculates could be that of Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan – friend, mentor and father figure to Nathan Drake. However, given that Holland has previously said he’d like to see the likes of Chris Pratt or Jake Gyllenhaal as Sully, it’s also possible that Sony will opt for a younger actor for the part, with Cranston potentially taking on a villain role.

At this point, it’s unclear when Sony plans to begin production on Uncharted 4. Holland is currently shooting Avengers 4, and will begin filming the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel in the first half of 2018, so it may well be some time yet before the Uncharted movie makes it to the screen.
