Stephen King on where Dark Tower went wrong, Darren Aronofsky wants Superman, Avatar sequels to cost $1 billion and more – Daily News Roundup

September 27, 2017 by admin

DARK TOWER – WHAT WENT WRONG?

The adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower was an under-advertised flop, and the source material’s creator has now spoken out about its failure. “The major challenge was to do a film based on a series of books that’s really long, about 3,000 pages,” King told Vulture. “The other part of it was the decision to do a PG-13 feature adaptation of books that are extremely violent and deal with violent behavior in a fairly graphic way. That was something that had to be overcome, although I’ve gotta say, I thought [screenwriter] Akiva Goldsman did a terrific job in taking a central part of the book and turning it into what I thought was a pretty good movie. The TV series they’re developing now … we’ll see what happens with that. It would be like a complete reboot, so we’ll just have to see.” Read more here.

CRANSTON WANTED FOR UNCHARTED

According to The Hashtag Show – who have a fairly spotty track record – the Uncharted movie is looking to cast Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston in a very large role, which the site speculates could be that of Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan – friend, mentor and father figure to Nathan Drake. Read more here.

ARONOFSKY WANTS SUPERMAN

Having attempted to bring Batman to the big screen nearly two decades ago, Darren Aronofsky is now turning his attention to The Man of Steel. “I mean, you know, Superman would always be interesting, but they’re already deep into reinventing him, so that’s not going to happen for a long time,” the mother! director told CinePop. “A lot of the great superhero titles are done, people have used them up. So now it’s kinda characters that aren’t as interesting. You never know. We’ll see what comes my way.” Read more here.

EXPENSIVE SEQUELS
