Character description for Arrow’s Ra’s al Ghul

August 16, 2014 by Gary Collinson

During the San Diego Comic-Con it was revealed that Ra’s al Ghul will serve as the main bad guy for the upcoming third season of The CW’s Arrow. We’re still waiting on a casting announcement, but a potential character description has emerged online via Reddit, which – if true – suggests that the producers will be taking a cue from Tom Hardy’s Bane when it comes to the depiction of the Demon’s Head. The following allegedly comes from the 50th episode of A, entitled ‘The Magician’, which is currently filming now:

Ra’s al Ghul. Male, 40s-50s. Open ethnicity. Accent preferrred. An iconic villain from the pages of DC Comics. Leader of the League of Assassins. Regal, mysterious, of a bygone era. Proud and unforgiving. Ra’s is a ruthless strategist, a master of martial arts, and a shaper of history. He carries the wisdom of the ages, and protects some of its greatest secrets. Think the character of Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. Someone just terrifying. Not a lunkhead, but a smart and physically imposing man. Major recurring guest star.

So, if that’s true and Ra’s is set to make his debut in ‘The Magician’, we should expect an imminent casting announcement…

The third season of Arrow will get underway on Wednesday, October 8th, with Brandon Routh (The Atom), Devon Aoki (Katana), Karl Yune (Maseo Yamashiro) and Peter Stormare (Count Vertigo) set to the returning Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), David Ramsey (John Diggle), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), Willa Holland (Thea Queen), Colton Haynes (Roy Harper), John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn), Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance) and Paul Blackthorne (Quentin Lance).
