Adrianne Palicki says her Wonder Woman pilot came a year too soon

November 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Six years before Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot teamed up to bring the Amazon Princess to the big screen, producer David E. Kelley tried unsuccessfully to launch a Wonder Woman TV series, with Adrianne Palicki (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Orville) in the lead role as Diana Prince.

The show failed to make it past the pilot stage, and speaking to The Wrap, Palicki has revealed that she was “devastated” that it didn’t make it to series, and feels that it came a year too soon to capitalise on the superhero boom.

“We were a year or two too soon,” said Palicki. “It was right before the main pop of Marvel movies and television series. The movies [had started coming] out, but it wasn’t like [today, where] that’s what makes money now — that’s what people want to see. It was a little too soon, it was a little early.”

“I was devastated for a while after, I’m not going to lie,” she continued. “But I got to paid to wear that costume! It was fun, and also I wouldn’t have been able to do this [Orville] role if I was playing Wonder Woman, so I’m thankful for all these things.”

Palicki can currently be seen alongside Seth MacFarlane in The Orville, which airs on Thursday nights on FOX.
