Constantin Film looking to launch Danger Girl movie and TV franchise

November 17, 2017 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Constantin Film is looking to bring the cult comic book series Danger Girl to the screen, having snapped up the rights to the series from creators J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell.

Constantin will team up with  Jeremy Bolt’s Bolt Pictures and Adrian Askarieh’s Prime Universe Films to launch a potential film and TV franchise with female empowerment as the buzzword.

“Danger Girl is the perfect opportunity to create a team of grounded, relatable and dangerous young female characters but with humor and spectacular action,” said Bolt.

Danger Girl launched in 1998 through Wildstorm, and followed the adventures of Abbey Chase, who is recruited into Danger Girl Freelance Operations Limited, a secret spy organisation who fights against the neo-Nazi group known as the Hammer Empire along with various other global threats.

The original Danger Girl miniseries spawned a host of further limited series and one-shots, as well as crossovers with the likes of Batman, Army of Darkness and G.I. Joe. A video game was also released in 2000, while Askarieh previously attempted to get a feature film adaptation off the ground in 2010.
