Final Fantasy XIV patch 4.15 contains a new PvP mode and gives Bards something to sing about

November 21, 2017 by Emma Withington

Final Fantasy XIV‘s patch 4.15 is one for PvP lovers today, but also strikes a chord with the Bards of Eorzea. The new PvP mode Rival Wings sees players engage in 24-v-24 player battles as two rival factions: The Falcons and Raven. The main objective is to destroy the core in your opponent’s base, which is protected by a magitek field – so the first thing on the itinerary is to destroy the two enemy towers generating said field, while making sure your own base is protected. In this elaborate goblin training ground, goblin machina is also controllable once certain conditions are met – causing devastation by eliminating structures and players. In other PvP news the launch of patch 4.15 also marks the start of Season 6 of The Feast PvP, which is running until the release of patch 4.2.

There’s something for the Bard-loving roleplayers today too, as Bard-specific Performance Actions are introduced. According to the press release ‘After completing a new quest, Bards may utilise these new actions to create their own masterpiece and bring the realm to life with the sound of music.’ The specifics of these actions have not been divulged, but we will be on the lookout for Bard performances in-game! Check out some shots from Rival Wings here…

Rival Wings: On the forgotten fringes of the Dravanian hinterlands, there lie the remnants of a Sharlayan testing site known as Astragalos. With their boundless ingenuity, the goblins of Idyllshire have transformed the place into an expansive training ground. Here, brave adventurers can take control of mighty machines in large-scale war games reminiscent of battles against the Garlean Empire. A furious struggle for territorial supremacy awaits!
