The Raid director is developing a gangland TV drama for Cinemax and Sky

November 24, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Director of The Raid, Gareth Evans, is working on a new TV series for Cinemax and Sky, with the working title Gangs of London.

Evans is known for the high-octane action and brutal hand to hand fights in his The Raid movies, delivering some of the most visceral and exhilarating fight sequences in recent cinematic history.

Now Evans is casting his eye to the small screen, developing a show for HBO’s Cinemax and for Sky Atlantic that bares the working title Gangs of London.

According to Deadline, the big budget gangland drama is being made with Pulse Films, the company’s first foray into TV drama, and Jane Featherstone’s Sister Pictures, which is behind the upcoming HBO/Sky project Chernobyl.

The series will arrive in 2019 and, as Deadline describe: “is set in contemporary London as it is being torn apart by power struggles involving several international gangs. The series begins as the head of one criminal gang is assassinated and the power vacuum threatens the fragile peace between the other underworld organizations.”

The show is an original concept by Evans who is also currently working on the Dan Stevens led feature Apostle.
