With the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming follow-up now in pre-production ahead of a planned June shoot, it looks like Sony, Marvel and director Jon Watts are filling out the crew for the Phase Four-launching sequel.
According to MCU Exchange, Matthew Lloyd has signed on to serve as director of photography, having previously worked with director Watts on Cop Car. He also has experience within the MCU, having worked on the Netflix shows Daredevil and The Defenders, as well as reshoots on Thor: Ragnarok.
Furthermore, it has also been reported that Claude Pare (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, X-Men: Dark Phoenix) will serve as production designer, while Anna B. Sherppard (Captain America: The First Avenger, Maleficent) has been hired as the film’s costume designer.
Although plot details for Homecoming 2 are being kept under wraps, we also have another report suggesting that in addition to Atlanta and Berlin, the shoot may also head to the UK – prompting further speculation that some parts of the film may take place outside of New York City (an earlier report had claimed that Marvel and Sony were testing European actresses for the role of Gwen Stacy). Of course, it’s also possible that these locations are simply doubling for parts of NYC.
Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is slated for release on July 5th 2019.
