Nick Tarabay to play Captain Boomerang on Arrow

September 17, 2014 by James Garcia

The CW’s supervillain roster continues to grow, as EW is now reporting that Spartacus and Star Trek Into Darkness actor Nick Tarabay has joined Arrow as Digger Harkness, better known as the Flash supervillain Captain Boomerang.

Harkness is described as “a former A.R.G.U.S. operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers.” He’ll make his small screen debut in Arrow‘s seventh episode, and make his way to the eighth episode as well, which will serve as an important crossover event between sister shows Arrow and The Flash.

With many of the Flash’s rogues gallery, including Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Weather Wizard (Chad Rook) and Plastique (Kelly Frye) set to make their debuts on The Flash, we knew that Captain Boomerang would show up sooner or later. It’s cool that he’ll debut on Arrow first, further solidifying the crossover potential between the two shows.

Boomerang is also a key member of the Suicide Squad (which is led by A.R.G.U.S.), so there’s a very good chance that he’ll team up with Arrow‘s version of the villains-turned-mercenaries team as well somewhere down the line.

Arrow returns for its third season on Wednesday October 8. The Flash will speed onto small screens a day earlier on October 7.
