Steven Spielberg may shoot West Side Story before Indiana Jones 5

January 28, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last week it was reported that Steven Spielberg ias considering both Indiana Jones 5 and West Side Story for his next project after Ready Player One.

Well, it seems he may have now made a decision, as Entertainment Weekly is reporting that a casting call has went out for his remake of the classic 1961 musical West Side Story, which is seeking Latino performers for the roles of Maria, Anita and Bernardo and a white actor to play Tony.

West Side Story is being written by Munch screenwriter Tony Kushner, and is currently without a release date. Indiana Jones 5 on the other hand is slated for release in 2020, but as we know, Spielberg doesn’t seem to have any problems juggling projects so at this point there’s no reason to suspect that West Side Story would push back the schedule of Indy’s fifth adventure.

Next up from Spielberg is his Ernest Cline adaptation Ready Player One, which opens in March.
