Elizabeth Banks talks about Pitch Perfect 2

September 22, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Pitch Perfect swept the nation when it came out in 2012, resulting in critical praise, $113 million worldwide, and even a successful single from Anna Kendrick called Cups, so when a sequel was announced fans sang their little hearts out.

Yahoo Movies talked to producer and co-star of the first movie Elizabeth Banks about the upcoming Pitch Perfect 2, which will see her making her feature directorial debut. Banks said that movie takes place during the senior year for the Bellas, who are coming up to gradutation:

“They’re coming to the end of their time as Bellas and figuring out how to sort of leave the nest and the comfort of each other’s friendship and figure out what they’re going to do with the rest of their lives.”

Banks also promised cameos from actual Acapella groups Pentatonix, the Filharmonic, and Penn Masala: “I can confirm all are in the movie, and they’re amazing. They do all their own singing and dancing. It’s all about authenticity in the acapella world. We really want to honor that, and honor the people who are really doing it out there who we’re inspired by when we make this movie.”

Pitch Perfect 2 us set for release on May 15th 2015, with a cast that includes Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Adam DeVine, Kelley Jakle, Chrissie Fit, Hailee Steinfeld, Katey Sagal and Elizabeth Banks.
