Friday the 13th fans have a lot to celebrate at the moment. Hot off the news last week that Paramount were looking to commission a brand new Friday the 13th movie, Warner Bros. has announced that the first 12 movies will be released on Blu-ray this coming September – some of which for the very first time.
After it’s humble beginnings as a cheap horror movie in 1980, Friday the 13th has grown to become one of the biggest (and longest running) horror franchises of all time, earning nearly $120 million worldwide – beating out franchises like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Psychopath Jason Voorhees and his iconic hockey mask have now become pop culture icons and he is one of the most beloved monsters of the horror genre.
This 10-disc Blu-Ray collection contains a bonus disc of killer extras and should cost around $130 when released. Although no new features are being released, it comes in a collectable tin with 40 page soft cover book excerpted from Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday The 13th.
All 12 movies will come in Blu-ray, Digital and UltraViolet formats, allowing viewers to see teens run scared across a variety of devices.
