Despite being three months out from its release, Warner Bros.’ Justice League is still grabbing a lot of headlines, with a report this week claiming that Warner Bros. fired Zack Snyder from the DC blockbuster several months before his official exit from the movie.
While this is unconfirmed, the folks at Collider have now shared some further alleged details about the situation, claiming that the decision to part ways with the filmmaker was made after he delivered an “unwatchable” rough cut of the movie. The article doesn’t clarify whether it was “unwatchable” because it was bad, or if perhaps it strayed too far from the “lightened” tone that the studio was going for after the mixed reception to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but apparently it led to the decision to hire Joss Whedon to oversee major rewrites and reshoots.
Now, this could all be speculation, but it isn’t the first time we’ve heard the term “unwatchable” alongside Zack Snyder’s cut of the movie, with a report back in August claiming the exact same thing, and revealing that the plans were to make substantial changes, including a completely revamped ending which removed a Darkseid set up for Justice League 2.
