After years of tweaking the screenplay and looking for financing, Todd McFarlane’s hard work finally paid off last year when Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions boarded his long-gestating big screen reboot of the hit comic book character Spawn.
McFarlane is set to make his directorial debut on the movie, which he has described as “dark and nasty”, and now according to Omega Underground, filming is set to get underway this coming May, with a possible New York City shoot.

Earlier reports had suggested that cameras would start rolling on Spawn in February, but that proved to be inaccurate and as yet, we’re yet to get anything in the way of news about the cast and crew. If this May date is correct, then expect to hear plenty of news about the project over the coming weeks.
