Scarlett Johansson praises Joss Whedon’s script for The Avengers: Age of Ultron

March 12, 2014 by admin

Yesterday we brought you some comments from Chris Hemsworth as he gears up to return to the role of Thor alongside the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for principal photography on The Avengers: Age of Ultron [read what he had to say here], and now Collider has managed to get a few words from Scarlett Johansson, who was full of praise for Joss Whedon’s script for the eagerly-anticipated sequel during a promotional interview for Marvel’s next movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

“I was just amazed—Joss [Whedon] is something else, he really is. He locks himself away for God knows how long; I think he has the dark circles to prove it. [He] just came out with something totally solid. I was really impressed by his ability to make this ever-expanding Marvel universe feel very close-knit and cerebral and progressive. I mean this movie feels like the continuation of The Avengers, it doesn’t feel like a tag-on or the rehashed version or just ‘let’s throw a bunch of new characters in there and keep the thing alive.’ It really feels like the next step, and all of our characters, our relationships with one another continue to progress, become more intertwined, more complicated, more meshed. The film has a lot of great comic book moments that the fans are gonna love, but it’s also got a lot of really great dramatic moments that audience members, I think, will really relate to.”

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1st 2015, with Hemsworth and Johansson joining returning MCU stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Paul Bettany (JARVIS / The Vision) alongside new additions Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass 2) as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy) as the Scarlet Witch, James Spader (The Blacklist) as Ultron, and Thomas Kretschmann (Dracula) as Baron Strucker.
