THR is reporting that Lucas Hedges (Manchester By the Sea, Lady Bird) is set to play a young Shia LaBeouf in Honey Boy, a drama exploring LaBeouf’s relationship with his father.
Transformers star LaBeouf has penned the script under the pseudonym Otis Lort, and will also appear in the film as his father, while Hedges portrays an Even Stevens-era version of the actor.
The logline for the Black List script reads: “A child actor and his law-breaking, alcohol-abusing father attempt to mend their contentious relationship over the course of a decade.”

Honey Boy, based on the nickname given to LaBeouf by his father, is being directed by Israeli filmmaker Alma Har’el (Bombay Beach), and marks her first dramatic feature after several music videos, documentaries and shorts.
