Since Joaquin Phoenix was revealed to no longer be in the running for Doctor Strange, several actors have been rumoured for the role in Marvel Studios’ latest franchise. Now Bad Ass Digest is reporting that Scottish actor Ewan McGregor is the latest actor Marvel is considering for the Sorcerer Supreme.
After Phoenix dropped out of the running Ethan Hawke was said to be the latest contender, and Variety has stated that Hawke is in the frame for the part, along with Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar Isaac, and Dallas Buyers Club Oscar-winners Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey.
With production set to start next year the casting of the lead will be of paramount importance, so expect to hear an official announcement soon.
Doctor Strange is slated to hit theaters on July 8th, 2016 and is being directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister).
