Rupert Wyatt to helm noir thriller Night Film

April 17, 2013 by admin

Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Escapist) is attached to direct an adaptation of the novel Night Film for Chernin Entertainment. The noir thriller, written by author Marisha Peel (whose best-selling debut was Special Topics in Calamity Physics), is due out from Random House in August.

The story follows investigative journalist Scott McGrath, who is looking into the death of a beautiful young woman, which was originally deemed a suicide. The woman turns out to be the daughter of a reclusive, cult horror film director named Stanislas Cordova, and McGrath then finds himself on a journey of revenge and truth.

No writer has been hired to adapt the script yet and the film hasn’t found a studio, although Chernin has a first-look deal at Fox.
