November 24, 2014 by Luke Owen

It was rumoured over the weekend that the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens would debut over this coming Friday, one day after fellow 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World shows off its first look. Well, it has now been confirmed – your first chance to get a glimpse at J.J Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be this Friday in select IMAX cinemas in the US. No word yet on showings outside of the land of the free or the Internet. But, no doubt there will be some bootleg copies available…

Check out the showings below:

Irvine, CA Edwards Irvine Spectrum 22 & IMAX
San Diego, CA Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX
Atlanta, GA Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX
Chicago, IL Regal City North Stadium 14 IMAX & RPX

The trailer will show before all movies in these screens.

UPDATE: The trailer will be 88 seconds long according to J.J. Abrams. So if you’re going to the cinema just to see the trailer, it will be a very expensive minute or so.
