Jean-Claude Van Damme returning for Kickboxer reboot

Get ready to wrap your fists up with tape once again as Kickboxer is getting the reboot treatement – and Jean-Claude Van Damme is returning!

Originally, Tony Jaa (Furious 7) was set to star but has now pulled out, with JCVD replacing him to take on the role of an updated version of the original film’s villain Master Chow.

Kickboxer is being directed by Stephen Fung (Tai Chi Zero) and will follow a very similar plot thread to the original film, in which a man witnesses his brother’s murder and vows revenge “the ancient way” for a Muay Thai fight to the death with the evil Tong Po. The film will also star Alain Moussi (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and George St. Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Soldier).

“We are so excited to have Kickboxer roll into production and to have JCVD in the role of Master Chow, passing the torch to Alain, to have him lead the franchise to a new generation ” says producer Ted Field. “Audiences better get ready for this incredible reboot. The action is going to be non-stop with never-before seen stunts. Simply put, Kickboxer will kick-ass!”
