Russell T Davies keen on writing Doctor Who movie

January 22, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies appeared on BBC Radio 2 over the weekend, during which he expressed his interest in bringing the Time Lord to the big screen, should the opportunity to write a Doctor Who movie ever arise.

“I think it should be in the cinemas immediately. It would be glorious. Imagine queuing up at the cinema to go and see a Doctor Who film. Yes please. If we could get the lawyers and contracts flying now. You know I would do that because I think there’s a big leap to be made.”

Doctor Who has enjoyed box office success in recent times, with both the 50th anniversary special and the series 8 premiere screening to packed cinemas. Meanwhile, there was talk back in 2011 that Harry Potter director David Yates was attached to a Doctor Who movie, but the project never materialised…

Would you like to see Russell T Davies writing a Doctor Who movie? Let us know your thoughts…
