Margot Robbie to star in gambling biopic Dangerous Odds

January 24, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After her star-making turn in Martin Scorsese’s superb The Wolf of Wall Street, actress Margot Robbie has become hot property, and studios and filmmakers are fighting over each other to work with her.

The Wrap reports that Warner Bros. has acquired Dangerous Odds, the true-life story of Marisa Lankester, who helped Ron Sacco run illegal sports betting operation which had ties to the mob and eventually reached $1 billion a year. And the studio wants Robbie for the title role.

Robbie and Warner Bros. can’t get enough of each other right now, with three of her upcoming projects already set at the studio: she co-stars with Will Smith in next month’s Focus, and has joined the cast of the new big-budget Tarzan film. In addition, her highest-profile role yet will see her taking on the iconic role of Harley Quinn in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, alongside Smith (Deadshot), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) and Oscar winner Jared Leto, who is playing the Joker.
