Anne Hathaway open to a Catwoman solo movie

July 23, 2012 by admin

So, we’ve known for a while that Christopher Nolan would call time on his stewardship of the Batman franchise with the release of The Dark Knight Rises, and he’s already stated that also includes Warner Bros.’ potential Justice League feature, but is there a chance that the British filmmaker could be tempted back to Gotham City one more time for a solo Catwoman movie?

In the run-up to the release of The Dark Knight Rises last week, Nolan was full of praise for Anne Hathaway in an interview with Access Hollywood, calling her take on Selina Kyle “incredible” and suggesting she “deserves” a solo spin-off movie. Although Nolan was quick to reiterate that he was moving on from the world he’s created with his ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy, Hathaway has subsequently responded to the rumours of a new Catwoman movie by expressing her interest in reprising the role…

“I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it’s with the right people,” said Hathaway during an interview with Digital Spy. “She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least.”

So basically Hathaway’s in, but only if she’s joined by Christopher Nolan. And we know that’s not going to happen so if you want to get your Catwoman fix, you’ll have to make do with The Dark Knight Rises I’m afraid. Besides, as good as Hathaway is in the role, I’m not sure the world is ready for another Catwoman movie just yet. The scars from Halle Berry’s disastrous 2004 outing still run pretty deep…

Holy Franchise, Batman! – Available now via Amazon.
