Kenneth Branagh talks working on Thor and returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

March 2, 2015 by admin

Many felt it was a match made in heaven when Kenneth Branagh was brought on to direct Thor way back during Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it was only a one shot deal. According to the director, Marvel wanted to go into production of its sequel Thor: The Dark World too quickly, which meant Branagh was replaced with Alan Taylor (Terminator: Genisys).

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to hype up his live action take on Cinderella, Branagh spoke openly about his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and whether he would return.

“Yeah, I mean what I found was that I just enjoyed the process of working with those people and I loved the boys and the girl. The girls as well. It was great. So that was fun. But it was a long time and they were way too quick for me to get straight back into another single sort of story in terms of working on it at that time, so who knows. Who knows. It was a pleasurable experience and a film I’m very proud of and one I was very lucky to be able to make and did me a lot of good from which I learned an incredible amount, so I’m very grateful to them.”

Would you like to see Branagh return to direct Thor: Ragnarok, which is set for release in July 2017?
