A few days ago Bryan Singer debuted some production art from X-Men: Apocalypse which revealed that Angel will be making an appearance in next year’s mutant superhero sequel, and now The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider has confirmed that former EastEnders star Ben Hardy is set to play the winged mutant.
Angel is a prominent character in the Age of Apocalypse storyline, with the original X-Men member striking a deal with Apocalypse, which sees him becoming one of the villain’s Four Horsemen and transforming into Archangel after being subjected to extensive genetic modifications.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set for release on May 19th, 2016 and stars X-Men veterans James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver) and Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert) alongside Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Apocalypse, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan (Mud) as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy (EastEnders) as Angel and newcomer Lana Condor as Jubilee.
