Aborted Justice League Dark concept art features Swamp Thing, Constantine, Klarion the Witch Boy and a Lady of the Night

August 30, 2020 by Gary Collinson

With J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot currently developing a Justice League Dark series for HBO Max, it seems that Warner Bros. and DC Films have abandoned their ambitions to bring the team of occult heroes to the big screen for the time being.

Way back in 2012, reports first emerged that Guillermo del Toro was looking to bring the supernatural characters of the DC universe together for a Justice League Dark adaptation, which the now-Oscar-winning filmmaker spent several years developing under the titles Heaven Sent and Dark Universe before his exit.

The project then shifted into the hands of Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow), who spent a less than a year attached before exiting himself due to scheduling conflicts with the still-to-be-released Chaos Walking. And now thanks to illustrator Houston Sharp, we’ve got a look at some unused concept art from Liman’s Justice League Dark, which features a new take on Swamp Thing, as well as John Constantine getting intimate with a “lady of the night” while Klarion the Witch Boy asks for a turn (as you might have guessed, these ones are on the NSFW side)…
