Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. news from SDCC’s Marvel Television Presents panel

July 26, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Marvel Studios will take to Hall H tomorrow for its big presentation, during which an announcement on Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is expected. However, today was all about the small screen side of the MCU, with Jeph Loeb hosting the annual Marvel Television Presents panel, during which we were treated to a host of news about ABC’s Agent Carter and the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

With regards to the Hayley Atwell-headlined Agent Carter, Marvel Studios co-president and director of the Agent Carter One-Shot Louis D’Esposito will direct the first episode, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier helmers Anthony and Joe Russo tackling the second and third episodes, and Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnson keen on helming the fourth. Here’s a video of Hayley Atwell and company discussing the upcoming series…

And as for the second season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Lucy Lawless’ (Xena: Warrior Princess) character has been revealed as S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Isabel Hartly, Reed Diamond (Dollhouse) has been announced as securing the role of season two’s “big bad”, Daniel Whitehall, a.k.a. Hydra agent the Kraken, and Nick Blood (Trollied) has signed on as Lance Hunter, who in the comic book universe is the director of S.T.R.I.K.E., the UK’s version of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Meanwhile, it seems that Mockingbird (Bobbi Morse) could also make an appearance, if Patton Oswalt’s Billy Koenig is to be believed – check out the video here…

And if that’s not enough for you, here’s an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. blooper reel from season
