AMC locks down spoiler page ahead of season finale of The Walking Dead

April 3, 2016 by Tai Freligh

Tai Freligh dips into the wild west of spoilers for tonight’s season six finale of The Walking Dead…

**Warning…potential spoilers ahead for tonight’s season finale of The Walking Dead, so go no further lest ye be spoiled!**

Ever since it was announced that uber villain Negan would make his appearance on the finale of season six of The Walking Dead, the speculation has been rampant about how a key scene from the graphic novels would play out on the show.  The show runners themselves have not been shy about switching things up from the graphic novels to the television show on AMC and so it has only further wound up fans of the show.  While one character may die in the graphic novels, the show runners will kill a different character off on the television show.  So, the rumblings have gotten loud and fierce about how this major scene will play out.

With one of the most highly anticipated television show finales in recent history airing tonight, AMC has understandably been on high spoiler alert for the past week and has even gone so far as to issue a DMCA request to take down a spoiler-filled account of tonight’s season finale posted to the hugely popular The Spoiling Dead Fans Facebook page, which has over 325,000 fans.  AMC took it a step further and locked the page down, blocking all the admins except for one from posting, replying or commenting on the page until today.  You can see below, a message from the lone admin and the wrath of the fans in the comments below the post.

It is very telling that AMC brought out the big heavies, considering that the track record on spoilers for the TSDF page has been very high.  The network will be accused of bullying, but ultimately they want to protect the integrity of the show and have this key moment from the comics come as just as much a shock to the viewers as it did to the people who read the graphic novels.  Unfortunately, they may have so much as confirmed what the page put up.  If you are that desperate to know what spoilers they are talking about, you will have to register on the The Spoiling Dead Fans website and read it in their forums.

The moment in question from the graphic novels is a huge turning point for Rick and the Alexandrians.  Negan has captured several of Rick’s people, including Glenn, Michonne, and Daryl.  Negan deals justice with a bat that he has nicknamed Lucille and which is covered in barbwire.  He has all of Rick’s people on their knees and tied up.  He goes down the line trying to decide who to deal punishment to before finally deciding on bashing in Glenn’s brains and killing him.  This is payback for what Rick and the Alexandrian’s did to his people, namely slaughtering his men and women in an attempt to overthrow him.  Fans of the TV show already thought they had lost Glenn earlier in the season when he was seemingly eaten alive by zombies, but miraculously survived.  It would be cruel fate indeed to have him die at the hands of Negan anyways, but that is one way AMC could play it.  Another theory is that fan favourite Daryl Dixon will meet Lucille at the end.  The current theory that is getting talked about the most is that The Walking Dead will leave everybody with a huge cliffhanger at the end of the episode by showing somebody getting their brains bashed in by Lucille, but from their point of view camera-wise and leaving the audience to guess who was offed by Negan and not knowing until the premiere of season 7 in six months.

Adding further fuel to the fire is the line-up of tonight’s Talking Dead, which includes Executive Producers Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple and actor Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon.  According to the TSDF site, there is also potentially an additional “surprise guest”.  Anybody who has watched Talking Dead knows that 99% of the time, the guest that is on the show the same night as a mid-season or season finale is almost ALWAYS the one who dies.  Perhaps TWD will up the ante and kill off TWO of the core group?  It would not be unheard of.

We want to know what you think…will The Walking Dead end on a cliffhanger and not tell us who dies?

Sound off in the comments below with your thoughts on who may meet Lucille tonight…
