Asterix & Obelix XXL3: The Crystal Menhir arrives on PC and consoles this week

November 19, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Asterix & Obelix XXL3: The Crystal Menhir arrives on Thursday and gives players on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mac the chance to take charge of our heroic duo of Gauls .  Microids and OSome Studio show off the gameplay and gorgeous environments in the game’s new launch trailer which can be seen below…

In Asterix & Obelix XXL3: The Crystal Menhir players start their adventure in the small village of Armorica when the druid Getafix receives a strange letter.  This letter will lead our heroes, Asterix and Obelix, on a treasure hunt through distant lands with the titular crystal menhir.  As players journey through strange and often hostile lands they will meet other beloved characters such as Cacofonix, Vitalstatistix and many more.

Asterix and Obelix will cut a path through forests filled with boars and fields dotted with Roman encampments, although they will get some help from the mysterious , whose powers include:

  • Stone menhir: The menhir starts the game without any crystals but when Obelix hits it on the ground it will trigger a shock wave that can shatter some objects, stun enemies or even knock them over.
  • Ice menhir: The cold coming from the menhir slows down the Roman enemies for a few seconds and sometimes will turn them into large blocks of ice.
  • Fire menhir: Objects near the menhir in this form will catch fire, and will even cause Roman enemies to flee in panic.  The fire menhir also can act as a torch.
  • Magnetic menhir: In this form armored enemies are attracted to the menhir allowing them to all be hit at once.  It also comes in handy for gathering collectibles!  Should any enemy be able to build up a particularly intense attack, a shield will surround Obelix.

Asterix & Obelix XXL3: The Crystal Menhir  offers an entertaining single player gaming experience as well as local co-op play for family and friends.

Get ready to rough up the Romans on Thursday with three special versions of the game: A Limited Edition that includes 2 small figures of Asterix and Obelix; the Collector’s Edition, which includes the 2 small figures, a 15cm figurine of Obelix and Dogmatix and two costume packs.  Nintendo Switch players will be able to purchase the Mega Collector’s Edition which will include the figurines from the other two editions as well as another 15cm figurine representing Asterix and a Mini Arcade and Asterix & Obelix XXL 2.
