Barry Keoghan exits Y: The Last Man series adaptation

February 9, 2020 by Ricky Church

After suffering multiple setbacks throughout its development, FX’s series adaptation of Y: The Last Man has now suffered one more. Collider brings words that Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk) has exited the series as its lead role.

The series went through a change of showrunners last year after FX replaced Michael Green (American Gods) with Eliza Clark (The Killing).  Brian K. Vaughn, who created the comic series with Pia Guerra, said at the time that the series was still on track for a 2020 premiere, though with Keoghan’s exit that could change.

With Keoghan gone, Clark and FX are said to already be looking for a new young actor to take the lead role.  It will have to be seen if the recasting will set the series back even further or will be a small blip in its plans to arrive later this year.

Y: The Last Man follows Yorick Brown who, along with his pet monkey Ampersand, are the last two remaining males after a global androcide. Also featuring in the cast are Diane Lane (Justice League), Imogen Poots (Green Room), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Marin Ireland (Hell or High Water) and Amber Tamblyn (127 Hours).
